Kept here for reference: the full listing, exactly as it was when sold.
Inspected by J. Batchelor. The watch presents in excellent overall condition and shows very little evidence of previous use. Two extremely fine surface marks are visible around the clasp area. These are minor and only noticeable under close inspection, but have been disclosed for transparency. The stainless steel case, bezel and bracelet otherwise present extremely well. The navy dial presents cleanly, with the hands, indices, red GMT hand and date display appearing complete and correctly positioned. No obvious chips, cracks or significant marks are visible to the Hardlex crystal during visual inspection. The watch should be function checked before dispatch, including automatic winding, manual winding, time setting, GMT adjustment, date change, hacking seconds, bezel rotation and clasp operation. Supplied with original Seiko presentation box and papers relating to its November 2023 purchase from C W Sellors Fine Jewellery. No warranty card is included. The original manufacturer warranty would now have expired based on the November 2023 purchase date. Seiko’s current three year warranty only applies to purchases from July 2024 onwards. Seiko Watch Corporation Factory water resistance is 100 metres. No independent pressure test has been carried out by Watch Season, therefore current water resistance is not guaranteed.
Watch 21 of the £200 Watch to Rolex challenge. Another Seiko joins the journey, and this time it is the Blueberry. The SSK003 is essentially Seiko taking the character of the much loved SKX and turning it into an automatic GMT. Deep blue dial, blue and black bezel, red GMT hand and that familiar five row bracelet. I paid £240 for this one, which is probably slightly stronger money than I would normally like to pay for a trade, but condition was the reason I went for it. It was sold to me as brand new and appears to have seen extremely little, if any, genuine wrist time. There are, however, two extremely fine marks around the clasp. My suspicion is simply that it may have been handled or displayed before its original sale rather than being completely untouched. It was originally purchased from C W Sellors Fine Jewellery in November 2023 and comes with its original box and papers, although the warranty card is not present. Watch 21. Another Seiko, another GMT and another step towards the Rolex.
The Seiko 5 Sports SSK003K1, better known as the “Blueberry”, takes the familiar SKX inspired Seiko 5 design and adds one of the most useful complications available in an everyday automatic watch. The 42.5mm stainless steel case surrounds a deep navy blue dial, complemented by a blue and black 24 hour rotating bezel and a contrasting red GMT hand. Inside is Seiko’s calibre 4R34 automatic movement, offering manual winding, hacking seconds, approximately 41 hours of power reserve and the ability to display a second time zone. The five row stainless steel bracelet is inspired by the classic SKX design, while the exhibition caseback allows the automatic movement to remain visible. A distinctive, practical GMT with strong Seiko heritage and one of the most recognisable colour combinations in the range.
